Having always been interested in old and vintage looking artwork, this year saw me taking on the new challenge of combining pet photos with old paintings to create custom pet portraits. I am pleased to have so many happy customers!

The magic ingredients

Take one photo of your beloved pet, add in an old painting and together you get a fantastic pet portrait unique to you and your fluffy friend!

Photos

The magic starts with a great photo of your pet. Make sure you choose one taken at eye level with your pet and looking away from the camera (or at least doing a bit of a sexy sideways glance…!) Daylight lighting is the best and try to make sure it is a nice sharp close up shot of your pet to really show off their features. You can use a smart phone or digital camera to take the photos but if you’re stuck, I also do pet photography to get the perfect shot, just ask for my rates!

Paintings

In order to produce the best looking pet portraits for you, I have sourced various different painted portraits of royalty, military, upper classes and important people from the 19th century and earlier. With so many different painting styles, colours and looks to choose from, there is sure to be a painting to suit your pet’s personality. If not, just ask, I’m sure I can find something suitable to match… after all, I do like a challenge!

Portraits

With a little bit of magic, a sprinkling of wizardry, and quite a lot of digital image manipulation, I combine the photo and painting to create a truly custom pet portrait of your beloved and regal pet! It is the perfect gift for pet lovers, a regal masterpiece to adorn your walls for years to come. I take the time to match the photo with the style and brush strokes of the painting so contact me today for your very own quirky and unique pet portrait!

How to Order

Simply choose your favourite outfit option below, upload your pet’s photo during checkout then sit back and let me work my magic! I will email you a proof of the portrait for you to check before printing and if you have chosen one of the printed versions as well, I will arrange delivery of this too.

Prices

  • £25 – digital only, 8″ x 10″ image

  • £35 – digital 8″ x 10″ image plus printed photo 8″ x 10″ onto art canvas

  • £45 – digital 8″ x 10″ image plus printed photo 8″ x 10″ onto art canvas then framed into preloved frame

If you would prefer your pet portrait to be printed onto a standalone canvas, wood, aluminium, acrylic, even matte photo paper etc, please contact me for prices – anything is possible!

FAQs

Will I get to see a proof?

Yes of course, I work with you throughout the whole process to create the best portrait of your fluffy friend. I will send you a proof to approve before sending you the high res digital image or printing the image.

What size photo do you need?

The larger the better! The higher quality the photo of your pet to start with, the better looking your portrait will be. You can upload your photo during checkout (max 5MB) or email me it after purchase to pawtraits@carlabutler.com. You can use a smartphone or digital camera to take your photo, remember eye level with your pet perhaps looking off to the side, daylight lighting and a nice sharp close up photo of their head is best for me to work with.

Do you only do cat and dog portraits?

Not at all! I love animals in all sorts of shapes and sizes so feel free to challenge me and my skills!

Can I get a refund?

Absolutely, you can request a refund up until the point at which you have approved the proof then I’m afraid no refunds are available as the image is custom-made for you.
